YMCA Camp Chase

Welcome Letter

Dear Mom & Dad-

Welcome to the YMCA Camp Chase program. Staff have been working hard getting programs running and I think you will be pleased. I wanted to take a minute to touch base with you. This summer YMCA Camp Chase participated in a SEER Analytical national survey and I wanted to share some of our results with you. We were scored with other Day Camp Programs and did extremely well. Across the board we are at or above national averages.

We are coming up on open registration for summer camp 2017. When we look back at 2016 we are excited to say that our programs were great!!!

From our Parent survey we heard:

  • 93% of kids built relationships between themselves and the staff
  • 90% of parents like our offering of a variety of program activities
  • 90% of kids made a new friend at camp this summer
  • 89% of our kids became more physically active

This survey was not in a vacuum. Some of our opportunities for improvement in 2016 are:

  • Communication with parents, this will come in several parts
    • We will not only be communicating by email this year but also postage mail for our more important items.
    • During camp parent phone calls were a success and we will refine that program.

This past summer 2016 we closed out 6 of our 10 weeks of camp. With that in mind we are looking to get our returning parents into camp sooner than later.  What does this mean? Register on line to reserve your spots. You may think you do not know what weeks you want to pick. That is OK. You are just committing to a number of weeks of camp. If you need to change you have until 4/1/2017 to finalize your weeks without penalty. This is a new adventure for us so take advantage today. Please feel free to call me if you have any questions.

Below is some other great information for your family to review:

Family Night

Come join us for a family event every other Thursday at Camp. There is a $10 per family fee for the night’s events (online registration is required). We will have family-friendly games and activities so everyone can join in, and a closing ceremony that you will never forget. Family Night dates are 6/29, 7/13, 7/27 & 8/10 from 5:30-7:30pm. We ask families to bring a side or healthy snack for the event.

Senior Camp Sleepover

After our family night has ended, the senior camp kids have the opportunity to stay and sleep over at camp. The Pioneers, Rangers, LIT & CIT campers will spend the night with friends around a campfire and sleep in Heart Lodge. Sleepover night dates are 6/29, 7/13, 7/27 & 8/10. Breakfast will be provided by the camp the next morning.

Ranger Trips

Ranger Tubing & Ranger Golf are held on the second Tuesday of each session. It is a special treat for our oldest day campers. This is an awesome opportunity to ride the Farmington River in a tube or play a round of Putt-Putt Golf and then have ice cream with friends. Permission slip and fee ($20 per) must be returned by Tuesday. The fee will be collected online. If your child is not tripping, alternate activities will be provided at camp for them.

the trip dates and locations are:

  • 6/20 – Mini Golf
  • 7/5 (Wed) – Tubing
  • 7/18 – Mini Golf
  • 8/1 – Tubing
  • 8/15 – Mini Golf

Camp Chase Lunch

We ask parents to send their children in with a healthy lunch in a brown paper bag. Please limit the sugary drinks and candy and load them up with fruits and a water bottle.  We are excited to have a healthy lunch option return to camp this season. Parents will be able to purchase lunch for the week (5 days) or on Mon/Wed/Fri.
